Ecole Sainte-Therese was originally built in 1955, with an addition built in 2000. The school is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion, consisting of the addition of 26 new classrooms, one new gymnasium, a resource centre, student services, one music room, an administration area, and associated circulation space. The Department of Supply & Services of the Province of New Brunswick understands the value of the LEED® rating system and is aiming to achieve, at a minimum, a LEED® Silver rating. Sustainable measures to be incorporated in the design of the new school include minimizing potable water use, optimizing the building's energy performance, ensuring construction materials are manufactured locally and contain recycled content, providing natural light throughout the building, as well as ensuring a high quality of indoor air.
