The New Student Center at Nipissing University and Canadore College is a joint project, undertaking a major renovation of the existing campus student center. Goals of the project were set forth by the schools, including preserving the existing amenities, creating a flexible space that could fulfill multiple roles for the campus creating a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere for the students of Nipissing University and Canadore College. The new space will include student association offices, classrooms, and an events hall. Mechanically, building will incorporate ground source heating to synthesize energy usage with local bedrock conditions and the extreme seasonal differences North Bay experiences. The scope of the project also includes redistributing the existing campus ring road, in order to better facilitate a long-term vision of growth the campus master plan hopes to undertake.
