Summary

The Scope of the Oshawa City Hall Revitalization Project includes: demolition of the current council chambers (320m2, 2 floors) and A wing of city hall office (1972m2, 6 floors), Renovation of B wing (1450m2, 2 floors) and Rundle Tower (6665m2, 9 floors) and construction of a council chamber (1221m2, 2 floors) . The City of Oshawa has decided to pursue LEED Silver Certification for the entire project. They will meet this objective by incorporating many green building design philosophies that may include but are not limited to: a cistern to collect rain water used for landscaping and flushing toilets, greening of the concrete courtyard, electric vehicle refueling stations, ground source heat pumps, responsible material selection including: regional, reused, recycled, low off gassing and rapidly renewable materials. This public building will be a used as an educational tool and hopefully lead the community by example towards a more sustainable future.
